The Ogun State chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has raised the alarm over the existence of fake Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs in the state.
The party raised the alarm in a petition it forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Department of State Services, DSS, and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police.
The party, in the petition signed by the state secretary of the party, Abimbola Awofeso, raised the alarm that a political party had printed fake PVCs which were used during the previous election in the state.
The party further allege that; “A sibling of a top government official who is also official of a local government in Egbado North was reportedly arrested by men from Lagos Rapid Response Squad with dozens of PVCs in his possession.
“It has come to our knowledge that some inmates of the Nigerian Prisons were brought out, given clothes and the fake PVCs to make bulk voting for the APC in some areas.
“This was perpetrated notably at Akin Olugbade Social Centre, a hotel at the back of INEC office in Arakanga, Abeokuta North Local Government and NURTW secretariat in Obantoko, Abeokuta and some other areas of the state.
“It is also worthy of note that the valid Voters Registration sheets released by INEC showed people whose names appeared twice with different VIN number but with same person appearing in the pictures.
“It must be noted that these irregularities are aimed at skewing the election in favour of APC throughout the state “, the party said.
