The Abia state chapter of the Social Democratic Party,SDP, has expressed disappointment over the failure of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration to attract direct foreign investment, so as to cushion the effect of economic hardship being experienced by the people of the state.
The party said, the highest investment that could be seen in Abia today, was building of mortuaries by individuals.
The chairman of SDP in the state, Honorable Chidi Nwosu who made his feelings known to newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday, explained that the Peoples Democratic Party-led government in Abia cannot boast of common hundred employment opportunities because of its draconian economic policies that are not investments-oriented.
The former Abia lawmaker also criticized Governor Ikpeazu for junketing from one country to another in search of investors, when there are no infrastructures on ground, to drive investment in the state.
He said,”PDP is not a political party that is investment-oriented. There is nothing for them to show on ground in Abia.
“There is no investment attracted by this government all this while into the state, that can boast of hundred employment.
” Everyday, the governor is junketing from one country to another in search of foreign investors, when you have not developed the talents you have.
“The governor, everyday is out of the state and the country looking for investors, when we don’t have good roads. No infrastructure in the state.
” I can tell that the only investment moving in Abia state today, is building of mortuaries along express roads. You will see mortuaries everyday.
“PDP has subjected the people of Abia to death, because they inflicted poverty and hunger on the people. Count from Umuahia to Aba, how many mortuaries are there”.
“Mortuaries are sited everywhere in the state. People are dying,” he added.
Nwosu vowed that come 2019, PDP will no longer exist in Abia because of it misrule.
“In 2019, PDP will be stopped, and will never exist again. Only a name and remembrance that it was a PDP as a political party”.
When DAILY POST contacted the Publicity Secretary of PDP in Abia State, Don Ubani, he said,” We will not respond to a sick man”.
