Several persons have been killed and houses razed after suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Tombo in Buruku local government area of Benue State.

A Benue-based journalist, Roseline, who is a native of Buruku told DAILY POST that her family house was completely razed in Tombo during the attack.

“Right now I am in Aliede but the attackers have set my family house in Tombo ablaze. In fact, we don’t know the whereabouts of some of our family members since yesterday afternoon,” she said.

The journalist said the heavily armed gunmen invaded the community while some residents were having their lunch, shooting and matcheting anybody on sight.

“As we speak, my hometown, Tombo is a no-go-area. They came into our village on horses and were killing anybody on sight,” she said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Assistant Superintendent, ASP, Moses Yamu, however, said only seven persons had been killed in the incident, which occurred at about 3pm Thursday.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Paul Yakadi had led a team to the area.
