Louis van Gaal was critical of Bastian Schweinsteiger’s performance in the second half of their pre-season friendly against San Jose Earthquakes in California.
The former Bayern Munich midifielder, was only playing his second game for the Red Devils, since his £14m move from the Bavarians last week.
When asked how Schweinsteiger played, Van Gaal said: “He was also bad. Players can play bad, and certainly when you have three or six days training session in your legs and you have to play 45 minutes. Everyone can think that it’s easy to step in, but it’s not so easy.”
United will face Barcelona in the International Champions Cup in California on Saturday.
