The leadership of Atiku Support Groups in Lagos have appealed to Prince Uche Secondus, national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to quickly come and rescue the Lagos chapter of the party from collapse.
In a press statement on Sunday, the group Chairman, Comrade Mark Iheanyi said it was unfortunate that the party, which won so many elective positions in 2015 would be allowed to remain in a state of comatose.
He maintained that it would be of utmost importance if the national leadership of the party waded into the crisis rocking the party with a view to bringing sanity back to it and to find a lasting solution to the leadership tussle rocking the Lagos PDP.
Iheanyi alleged that the leaders of the party in Lagos were engrossed with the issue of executive power sharing formulae at the expense of the very important challenge of winning elective positions.
He said that it was sad that the party would be losing members to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, almost on a daily basis because of disunity within the ranks of the PDP.
Iheanyi said, “2023 is too close and we are sure that the Lagos PDP leaders will continue fighting themselves till it will be time to fix candidates in State, National Assembly and Governorship positions.
“They would come out and start considering who gets what out of the election money and would end up losing all the elective positions even constituencies where the party was very strong have been decimated by the opposition and the truth remains that the party would not continue like that, the national leaders must as a matter of urgency do something because Lagos is too important to be ignored or lost because of selfish interest of few individuals.”
