Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has confirmed that Maurizio Sarri will be leaving the club.
De Laurentiis was frustrated with Sarri’s refusal to sign a new deal, amid speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea.
“I’d like to thank Maurizio Sarri for his valuable contribution to the Napoli cause.
“He brought joy and prestige to Naples and Napoli fans all over the world with an entertaining brand of football that drew praise from all quarters. Well done, Maurizio. Aurelio De Laurentiis,” the Napoli president tweeted.
Sarri’s exit leaves him free to move to the former Premier League champions.
He will replace fellow Italian, Antonio Conte, who is set to depart Stamford Bridge after a miserable second campaign in England.
