Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that the likes of Olivier Giroud and Cesc Fabregas may not feature against Southampton in tonight’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
According to Sarri, Giroud and Fabregas are currently injured.
The Italian gaffer said he is waiting to assess the seriousness of injuries suffered by the duo.
Giroud sustained an ankle injury during Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, while Fabregas has not played for Sarri’s side since December 22, due to a neck injury.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Sarri was quoted by Sport Review as saying: “Giroud’s problem is his ankle. I don’t know the extent at the moment. We have to wait. Later I will see the doctor for the first result.”
Asked about Fabregas’ situation, Sarri added: “Fabregas has a neck injury. I don’t know how long he will be out for. I don’t know if he has to rest for two days or for 10 days.”
The kick-off time for the match is 8:45pm.
