Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has written to the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in response to an earlier letter by the party leadership captioned, “party position on principal officers of the 8th Senate” where the APC forwarded to him the names of those it wants to be principal officers.
Saraki used his letter to explain why he could not see to the implementation of the party’s wishes, noting that his hands were tied on the issue.
He noted in the letter that, “the said letter was received after the various APC zonal caucuses had taken their decisions to nominate candidates as Principal Officers of the Senate in line with parliamentary convention and the extant provisions of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 as amended.”
Senator Saraki had read yesterday, to the hearing of all at the Upper Chamber, the names of the elected Principal Officers appointed from the various Zonal caucuses meeting of the party, APC, which was contrary to the party leaders’ preferred candidates.
