Saraki visits Maiduguri amidst tight security


President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, is currently on his first official visit to the embattled city of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The Senate President arrived Maiduguri at about 11 a.m, and was accompanied by top leaders of the Senate, including Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume and Senator Abubakar Kyar, who represents Borno North Senatorial District.

While in Maiduguri, the Senate President is expected to visit IDP camps, pay a courtesy call on Governor Kashim Shettima and the Council of Borno State traditional rulers at the Shehu of Borno palace.

Reports say security operatives comprising of soldiers and police officers are mounting tight security to, according to state officials, ensure a hitch-free visit.
