Saraki inaugurates Ad-Commiittee on power

Senate President President, Bukola Saraki today (Friday) inaugurated a 14 man ad-hoc Committee on Power with Senator Abubakar Kyari as Chairman, bringing to five all Committees inaugurated in his administration.

In an elaborate ceremony, Saraki charged the Committee to work as part of their oversight functions, stressing that challenges in Power sector requires cooperation of National Assembly to get it tackled.

“I want the Committee to realise that they have responsibilities under the oversight functions to see that challenges in Power sector receives legislative attention,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Abubakar Kyari assured Nigerians that the Committee will do all it can to reach out to all stakeholders in the Power sector with a view to have first hand information on those challenges so they could comprehensively be looked into.

He further opined that necessary steps would be taken to quickly transmit reports to the committee of the whole for necessary legislation to boost the effort of the present administration in the power sector.

“The Committee will not hesitate in transmitting report of its findings to the committee of the whole for legislation in order to complement the effort of the Federal government,” Kyari said.
