Saraki donates N3.5m tocrisis victims in Ilorin


The Chairman, Senate Committee on Ecology and Environment, Dr Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday donated N3.5 million to heads of seven families whose residential buildings were burnt during the recent fracas in llorin.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the mayhem broke out in Agbarere and Ita-Ajia areas of Ilorin, in the Kwara capital.

The former governor of Kwara also donated N250,000 to the Magaji-Are of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Subair whose vehicle was also vandalised by the hoodlums.

Saraki, represented by a team from the Mandate Campaign Office led by Alhaji Oba Olabintan, ascribed the crisis so some miscreants, acrimony and animosity.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the state said he was deeply touched by the civil disturbance, which he noted, had brought untold hardship to the victims.

He assured that the government would continue to give priority to the well being of the people of the state and told the perpetrators to prepare to face justice.

Saraki said the donation was to reassure the people of his commitment to their welfare.

NAN recalls that some groups attacked residents of Agbarere, lta Ajia and ldiape, setting houses on fire and damaging property worth millions of naira about fortnight ago.
