Former governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, has urged Nigerians to use this Sallah celebration to pray for Nigeria’s military men and other security personnel to combat terrorism.

He said the call was in line with the desire of every citizen to live in a secured country as well as see to the freedom of Chbok girls.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), added that the Sallah period should be used by Muslims the world over to put an end to violence and raging crisis.

“As Nigerians, It is important for us to unite on all fronts and live harmoniously with people of other faiths while carrying out our religious obligations.

“The moral lessons of these historical characteristics of Prophet Ibrahim must not be forgotten.”

On his part, Kaduna State governor, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero called on all Muslims in the State and indeed the entire country to use the period of Edi-el-Kabir festival for the promotion of peaceful coexistence with adherents of other faiths.

In a goodwill message by his Director General Media and Publicity, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Governor emphasized the need for all Nigerians to forge greater unity at this critical point of the nation’s history stating that “most Nigerians believe in the oneness of God either as Muslims and Christians.

“I believe it is time for us to seize the opportunity of the Eid-el-Kabir festival and the public holidays to reflect on how we can bring the ideals and virtues of our religious beliefs to bear on the positive resolution of the many challenges facing us as a State and nation.

“Let us use this period to extend hands of fellowship to one another through friendly visits across all divides. As one people united under God, let’s make merriment in thanking the Almighty for his salvation as symbolized by the sacrificial lamb offered to Prophet Ibrahim (AS) in place of his Son, Ismail (AS).”

Governor Yero also urged Muslims to continue to pray for unity and peace in the entire country.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, may we all sustain the virtues of the Holy period by making sacrifices for peace, unity and development of our beloved Kaduna State and Nigeria.

“On behalf of the Government and Good People of Kaduna State, I congratulate the entire Muslim Ummah on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration”, he stated.

Yero also prayed for the safe return of all pilgrims to this year’s Hajj, praying that the Almighty Allah accept all their acts of worship.

He wished all Muslims and indeed the entire people of Kaduna State peaceful Sallah celebrations.
