Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa has urged his subjects to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious movements to the appropriate security agencies.
The Monarch stated this in a Sallah sermon shortly after performing the Eid-El-Kabir prayer in Potiskum town.
He also warned his District Heads and Ward Heads against illegal sale of plots as well as accommodating tenants of doubtful characters in their dormains.
“Because of the security challenges, we want to appeal to District Heads, Ward Heads and landlords, whenever somebody wants to buy piece of land or house, he has to be thoroughly checked and be reported to the security authorities to ensure the he is not a threat; this also applies to anybody renting houses,
“We are making efforts to see that nobody rents a house without being investigated and thoroughly screened by the authorities and District Heads; it is very important; we have decided that we are going to deal with all concerned, who fail to abide by the order, especially the Ward Heads and the District Heads who are the immediate leaders; we will hold them responsible, we believe that by doing this, we will restore peace and identify the insurgents”, he stated.
He thanked God for the peaceful Sallah celebration and urged the people to continue to be patient with the situations and the security challenges rocking the region.
He said, “we are happy now that the insurgency is getting lower and relatively we have peace, but we advise people to be vigilant, be alert, report all cases of suspicious people to the appropriate authorities”.
The Emir used the forum to thank Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam for developing the state with the limited resources of the state, stressing that “he had delivered democracy dividend; let our people be prayerful so that they will continue to enjoy peace and development”.
