Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has called on Nigerians to shun acts capable of disrupting the unity, togetherness and peaceful co-existence of the country.
Ajimobi in a statement made available to DAILY POST Thursday evening by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka while felicitating with Muslims for this year’s (1438) Eid-El-Kabir celebrations said that it was only in an atmosphere of peace and unity that the country could achieve the desired greatness.
The governor condemned what he called hate speeches and the ember of discord being stoked by ethnic agitators in some parts of the country.
“We cannot say we are brothers and sisters and still be carrying guns and matchetes against one another. What do we stand to benefit by killing and maiming ourselves?
“Whatever grievance anybody or any section may have should be expressed through proper channels and solutions sought through dialogue.
“Rather than engaging in acts capable of disrupting our peaceful co-existence as a people, I enjoin those who have issues with the current composition of the country to toe constitutional and lawful path in seeking redress”.
He urged Muslims to use the occasion of the Eid-El-Kabir to pray for the peace, progress and economic emancipation of the country.
Ajimobi also urged them to continue to exhibit love towards their fellow human beings and to dedicate themselves to service of humanity as exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim.
The governor further reiterated his administration’s resolve to the uplift of the state through massive infrastructural development and ensure that the state was put on a sound footing that would be the envy of all.
A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore in his own message urged Muslims in the state and other parts of Nigeria not to relent on their prayers for the country and its leaders to have a better Nigeria.
Omisore while felicitating with Muslims in a statement made available to DAILY POST by his Media Team on Thursday said as “at present, Nigeria as a country need fervent prayers from the Muslims and other peace loving Nigerians for it to overcome the numerous challenges facing it and move the country forward to enable it regain its rightful position in the comity of the nations”.
He declared that “Let me use this opportunity to congratulate my Muslim brothers and Sisters on this year Eid El Kabir and the need for everyone of us to continue to have faith in this our country . Nigeria remains the only country we can call our own country, it is time we all join hands and pray for divine intervention in getting it out of the numerous challenges presently weighing it down” he said.
He said doing this, “Nigerians including our Muslim brothers and sisters should go beyond seeing the Eld-El-Kabir period as mere merry making time but as a period to intercede for the country through fervent prayers and commitment towards making Nigeria great again.
Omisore expressed optimism that with genuine commitment and prayers, “Nigeria will soon overcome the insecurity, economic meltdown and other challenges presently militatating against its unity, stability and the much needed development of the country”.
He also urged Nigerians to pray for the safe return back to the country of our brothers and sisters on holy pilgrimage to the Holy land of Mecca to perform this year’s hajj .
Omisore tasked Muslim faithfuls in and across the state to pray for a divine bailout for the state and its people in the face of the prolonged hardship facing the people especially the youths, the civil servants, the pensioners. market women as well as others.
He emphasized that it was unfortunate that the people of Osun state in general were intentionally subjected into various forms of hardships through various anti people policies of the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led government in the state thereby making it imperative for the people of the state to give room for a better government that will foster on the people and Osun state as a whole the much needed people friendly government with human face policies come 2018.
“While feeling the sufferings and hardships of various forms presently facing my good people of Osun state, I want to charge that it is time again to punder and take up the challenges to rescue our dear Osun state from the political hijackers and reposition the state back for good. The 2018 governorship election in our dear state is almost around the corner. This time around, I am charging our people, the people of Osun state to be more patriotic, devoted and join in rescuing the state back from its present pitiable condition”.
He emphasized that in doing this, the time has come for the people of Osun state to shine their eyes and be more vigilant so as not to fall victim of bad governance and a focus less government again.
In the same vein, The Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari also in a statement made available to DAILY POST enjoined Muslims to be more committed and dedicated in their service to Almighty Allah and rendering of assistance to the less priviledged in the society.
Buhari said that there is every reason for Nigerians to thank God to sacrifice their time and money in appreciation of what God has done for us as people.
He said “Sallah is beyond slaughtering of ram and cows,it is a period of giving thanks to Almighty Allah through sacrifice, prayer and at the same time rendering of support to family ,friends and the less privileged around us out of the little that we have”.
He advises muslims to take advantage of this special month by getting closer to Allah through increased ibadah and supplications because according to the Prophet( SAW ) the first 10 days of this month are the best of days.
Buhari also urged parents and custodians of culture and tradition to instill discipline and moral training in their children so that they will be useful for themselves and society in the nearest future.
He however called for the continious prayers for total recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari, healing of the Nation’s economy and peaceful coexistence in Oyo state and our dear country Nigeria.
