Saleh inaugurated into 8th Assembly, condemns Otukpa protest

The newly inaugurated member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State at the House of representatives, Rt. Hon. Hassan Saleh has condemned the act of threats, assaults and destruction of property ongoing in Otukpa, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State by some thugs believed to be working for his opponent, Christian Adaba Abbah.

Speaking in Abuja yesterday shortly after his inauguration into the 8th Assembly, Mr. Saleh said such act was strange to the politics of the good people of the Constituency and called on those perpetrating the act to desist forthwith and pursue decent politics for the general interests of the Constituents and for the sake of peace and tranquility.

“Let those who are close to Chris Adaba Abbah (a.k.a. Mad Lion) quickly call him and his boys to order. It’s not decent for people to take laws into their hands. There are laid down procedures for pursuing one’s ambition and certainly violence is not part of it.

” My supporters and I have come under severe attacks and continuous threat. We have tried our best to condole this as much as possible because we don’t believe in violence. And my joy is that security agents are not unaware of this trend and they know which quartets the act of violence is coming from”, he said.

Mr. Saleh who dedicated his electoral success to God and the people of the constituency also pledged total commitment to the things that would translate into the development of the area.

In their separate remarks, Former Special Adviser to Bayelsa State Governor on Media and Strategies, Dr. Francis Otta Agbo; former Chairman, Ogbadibo LGC, Sir Christopher Abah; former Special Adviser to the Minister of Interior, Rt. Hon. Solomon Onah acknowledged the laudable projects of Mr. Saleh in his first tenure and thanked God for his successful inauguration, describing it as a vindication for people who believe in development and a mark of greater things in the Constituency.

They also jointly condemned the act of thuggery in Otukpa and called on Governor Samuel Ortom, President Muhammad Buhari and relevant agencies to swing into action and curb the menace before it degenerates into a full fledged insurgency.
