President Buhari
Two Legal Practitioners in Warri, Delta State, Mr. Paul Omozele Esq and Mr. Ignatius Onwuemele Esq have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to rescind his decision of selling off Nigeria’s assets, saying the sales of the assets cannot revive the poor financial status of the country.
The Lawyers in a separate chat with DAILY POST this morning in Warri said selling Nigeria’s assets will do the country more harm than good as , “it will sink the already collapsed economy further and drag same to the mud.”
Mr. Omozele Esq argued that selling the nation’s assets is not the solution to its problems, noting that it will compound same just as he suggested that the federal government should invest and commence repairs on assets that may be considered non-functional with a view to providing more funds for the country.
“Selling of the country’s assets will not solve the problem of the country. Let the Federal Government start investing and repairing those national assets that are not working to provide more funds in the economy.”
On his part, Mr. Onwuemele Esq stated that the idea of the sales of the nation’s assets by President Muhammadu Buhari is a wrong one from the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government , stressing that the economic crisis in the country is as a result of the refusal of the government to repair some of the assets that are not working.
While suggesting that government should engage experts on how best to revive Nigeria’s collapsed economy, Mr. Onwuemele appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to rescind his decision as those assets “ will help the country a lot.”
President Buhari has taken a cue from African richest man, Aliko Dangote after he urged the Federal Government to sell off the Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas company, NLNG, and other dormant but huge capital-generating sectors in the country.
Dangote stressed that the proceeds generated from the sales should be invested back into the economy before the end of the fourth quarter.
