Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr Austin Tam-George, has lambasted Professor Itse Sagay for supporting ex-Governor Rotimi Amaechi even when he knew the latter was corrupt.
In a statement by George on Sunday said the reaction by Prof. Sagay on the Supreme Court judgment that gave victory to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, he wondered if the Professor of Law was seeking to be what he termed the dubious originator of the sick jurisprudence of “everybody knows,” even without evidence.
Tam-George wondered why Sagay would be “re-litigating a settled matter in the street in the manner he did,” adding that Sagay was busy resorting to alleged unsubstantiated hearsay mindlessly peddled by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
He condemned the attack by the APC and its alleged fronts on the verdict of the apex court, saying Wike’s government will continue to defeat the forces of darkness.
Continuing he said,: “We condemn this carefully orchestrated campaign of calumny launched by the APC and its cowardly surrogates against Nigeria’s justice system, which is the bedrock of our evolving constitutional democracy.
“Working with other Nigerians and our sister states in the Niger Delta region, the government and people of Rivers State will continue to defeat the dark political fundamentalism of the APC.
“We call on the international community to restrain the APC from its desperate attempts to politically dominate our people and plunder the resources of our land.”
