Rooney ready to see out Manchester United contract

Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney, will accept a reduced role at the club, but is not ready to quit.

The victory ended a poor run of three straight losses and United played much better without the striker. He was introduced for the last seven minutes of the encounter.

He is expected to return to the starting line-up for United’s Europa League tie at home to Zorya Luhansk, but is aware he is no longer an automatic pick.

Rooney, who turns 31 next month, has two years left on his current deal – with an option for a third. A change in his fortune however, has not convinced the England man to consider leaving.

He has been linked with a big-money move to the Major League Soccer recently, but those close to him say he is determined to see out his contract.

A testimonial game against Everton, was organized for Rooney who has spent 12 years at United in August, before the new season kicked off.
