Ronaldo’s tax allegations can affect Real Madrid – Zidane

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has said that allegations of tax fraud against Cristiano Ronaldo, could affect the club.

A group of European media outlets, have claimed that Ronaldo routed at least €150million through a British Virgin Islands tax haven since 2009.

They also reported that the Spanish tax authorities, have been investigating the Madrid forward’s case for 12 months.

Madrid have backed Ronaldo, insisting that his “conduct has been absolutely exemplary throughout all of his time at our club,” while the player’s agents Gestifute have also strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have been left out of Zidane’s squad for Saturday’s La Liga game against Deportivo La Coruna and at a news conference ahead of the fixture, Zidane said: “We are talking about people, not just footballers, but people, who are very intelligent.

“They know perfectly well what they do, what they have done, and what they must do.

“I hope that it is all clarified quickly and we want to just think about football and winning games. All this can affect us. I do not want to make comments out of turn. I hope that things are sorted out very quickly. We can only wait on that.”

Madrid can set a new club record of 35 games unbeaten in all competitions if they don’t lose at the Santiago Bernabeu this weekend.
