Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his 400th goal for Real Madrid.
The Portugal captain netted twice in their 4-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday, to become the first player to reach that landmark for the club.
However, Madrid claim Ronaldo had already reached 400 goals, with the club having attributed a 2010 free-kick against Real Sociedad, deflected into the net off Pepe’s back, to the Portuguese.
The goal also takes the Portuguese superstar to 365 goals in European league play, tying him for second all-time with German legend Gerd Muller.
Ronaldo joined Real Madrid in 2009 from Manchester United. He is both Madrid’s and the Champions League’s all-time leading scorer. He trails only Lionel Messi of Barcelona in the all-time scoring charts in La Liga.
The 32-year-old has won La Liga once, the Champions League twice and the Copa del Rey twice at the Santiago Bernabeu.
