Ronaldo in irresistible form as Real Madrid defeat Chelsea 3-1

Following a week he and his former manager Jose Mourinho exchanged words, Cristiano Ronaldo did the talking on the football pitch, as Real Madrid outclassed Chelsea in the heat of Miami.

The forward scored a stunning free-kick and added a brilliant run and composed finish, ending the Blues boss 100% record in pre-season games.

Chelsea on their part, lacked a killer instinct in front of goal, the more reason why they are desperately trying to get Wayne Rooney from Manchester United.

Madrid started the game with a more purposeful approach, with Karim Benzema forcing Petr Cech to make a save just two minutes into the match. It was only a matter of time before they took the lead. Modric’s superb ball split Chelsea’s defence and Marcelo raced onto it, to provide the finish the pass deserved.

Two minutes later, Mourinho’s men levelled. Ramires burst through and clipped the ball over Casillas and from then on, the English side starting causing Madrid problems. Thankfully, they still have the services of Ronaldo and he stepped up to curl a trademark free-kick past Cech.

Chelsea almost equalised again in the second half, but Casillas saved at Hazard’s feet. Six moinutes later, Ronaldo effectively ended the argument, converting Isco’s cross.
