Ronaldo favourite to win 2016 FIFA Award

Real Madrid’s superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, is being tipped to win the Best FIFA Men’s Player Award on Monday night in Zurich.

The Portugal captain won the 2016 Ballon d’Or ahead of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, following an impressive year with Madrid and his country.

Ronaldo won the UEFA Champions League with the La Liga giants, as well as the 2016 European Championship.

It could well be a double celebration for Madrid, with their manager Zinedine Zidane hoping to land the coaches’ title, after leading them to European Cup glory, 14 years after doing so as a player.

FIFA ended its six-year collaboration with magazine France Football for the Ballon d’Or award last year and will now unveil its own brand new “Best” distinction.

The ceremony will be hosted by American actress, Eva Longoria and German broadcast host, Marco Schreyl
