Ronaldo deserves a fifth Ballon d’Or – Zidane

Real Madrid coach, Zenedine Zidane, has described Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, as a rare breed.

Ronaldo was voted the world’s best player for a fourth time on Monday  and is set to lead Real Madrid to the World Club Cup in Japan, where they will face Club America in Thursday’s semi-final.

The Frenchman told reporters in Yokohama, “Cristiano is hugely motivated for this game — as always.

“He would be motivated even if it were a friendly, that’s just the sort of player he is.

“Obviously we have many great players at Real Madrid but it’s very rare one player wins so many awards.

The Spain capital city side are in search of their second world title in three years.

Zidane added, “To win four Ballon d’Ors is a fabulous achievement and it’s not an easy thing to do. What he’s doing is absolutely incredible. Maybe he deserves a fifth one too!”

The Portuguese captain is now close to Lionel Messi’s record of five awards after a remarkable year in which he led his club to their 11th Champions League title and helped his country to their first European championship glory.
