Cristiano Ronaldo has been slapped with a two-match ban, following his red card during Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Cordoba last weekend.
The forward’s frustrations boiled over and his kicked out at Cordoba defender Edimar and also hit him in the face. Referee Alejandro Hernandez showed immediately gave him his marching orders.
Ronaldo has since apologized after the incident, while Edimar also called on La Liga’s disciplinary committee to be lenient with his punishment.
The 29-year-old, who has scored 36 times in 31 appearances in all competitions for Madrid, will sit out league games against Real Sociedad and Sevilla as a result.
