Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, was ready to name his final squad for the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, a member of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), claims Rohr wanted to name the 23 players he was taking to Russia.
However, the German coach eventually released a list of 30 players in his provisional squad, from which he will drop seven.
FIFA allows teams to name 35 players in their provisional list.
The member of the NFF Technical Committee says Rohr rejected the NFF’s advice to name 35 players, so that some foreign-based players will feature in next Tuesday’s friendly against Atletico Madrid.
It is believed that Rohr has at least 20 of the 23 players he will be taking to the World Cup in his mind.
