Rohr warns Mikel Obi over China move

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has told his captain John Obi Mikel, not to move to China.

Mikel Obi has already met with Valencia officials over a possible transfer, but the deal is stalling because of the Nigerian’s wage demands.

His representatives are hoping to negotiate a big-money move for the 29-year-old, but Rohr has told him he prefers if he stays in Europe.

“I prefer Mikel stays in Europe and play in an European team. When I was in London two weeks ago, we spoke about that,” Rohr told reporters in Lagos on Tuesday.

“But Mikel is an experienced and intelligent player and he knows what to do. If he decides to choose the money of China then we must respect that. If he goes to China and is playing well, he will come.”
