Rohr might replace Moses in Super Eagles’ 2018 World Cup squad

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr might replace Moses Simon in his 30-man provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Simon who plays for Belgian Jupiler League side, Gent, has been ruled out of the tournament because of injury .

He will not feature in Monday’s friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo, nor the subsequent game against England on June 2.

FIFA rules stipulate that a player not on the provisional list of a country heading to the World Cup, can be included if one of the players in the list suffers an injury ruling him out of the tournament.

A replacement can be added to the pool and it is only possible 24 hours before the first game of the tournament which starts June 14.

This comes amid calls for Rohr to include Kelechi Nwakali in his squad, after his impressive showing in the friendly against Atletico Madrid in Uyo.

It is certain Rohr will exercise the option, especially as he is expected to drop five players before the friendly against England.
