Brazil legend, Roberto Carlos has said that his compatriot Neymar will not win the Ballon d’Or as long as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are still around.
Neymar is widely believed to have left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain, because he wanted to escape Messi’s shadow and eventually land football’s top individual awards.
He has enjoyed a fine debut season with PSG, scoring 26 goals in 29 appearances, but Carlos thinks it is not enough.
“I think he did well to sign at PSG.
“To be the best in the world he had to leave Barca because there is Messi.
“Even if he must be aware that, as long as Messi and Ronaldo are in form, he will have to settle for third place,” Carlos told France Football.
