Crime rate, especially Burglary in Abraka community, Delta state, has unsettled its residents.
Investigation has revealed that in the past three weeks, Abraka Ekejeta, Egbedi,NUT road, London, Lucas road, River road, and sites one and two, are worse hit by armed robbers who rob residents of these areas at gun point, mostly during nightfall.
But the state Police Commissioner,Mr,Muhammad Mustafa who confirmed the frequent robbery and Burglary cases to DAILY POST, Said, ” We have recorded several cases of robbery and burglary in many of the quarters in Abraka, we have arrested 23 suspects, we have resolved to keep 48 hours patrol of the areas.

Meanwhile, some residents who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity, lamented the high rate of robbery and burglary in the areas, and called on the State Commissioner of police to beef up security in the areas, and ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
They alleged that the fear of being attacked, maimed or their women raped, has restrained them, especially the females students from going to night classes to read ahead of their second semester examination scheduled to commence at the end of May.
They Said, “Our examination is around, and as such, we are supposed to intensify out reading activities, most of us go to school for night classes because we don’t live in Abraka, but we can’t do so now for fear of the unknown.”
