Robbers kill two soldiers, injure one in Lagos

Two soldiers were allegedly killed while One other was injured during a robbery operation at the Apapa area of Lagos State on Sunday.

It was gathered that the robbers who stormed the area around 11pm used an unidentified foreigner to get through to the house of their victim, who is equally a foreigner.

The robbery incident took place just a stone throw to the Command Guest House of the Nigerian Army at Apapa.

The soldiers responded to the gunshots from the victim’s house but the gunmen opened fire, killing two of them on the spot.

The bandits, it was gathered, went on to rob occupants of the house while they made away with the victim’s vehicle.

They also abandoned the metallic grey Honda car, with registration number GJ435 LSR, they brought to the scene of the robbery.

It was gathered that mobile policemen engaged the robbers in a gun battle but the robbers escaped.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos state, Mr. Damascus Ozoani, said although the police got wind of the robbery, it could not comment on it.

He said, “There was no official report at any police station. Since the incident affected the army, I suggest that you call the army PRO.”

However, army spokesman, Captain Eze, said he had not been briefed on the incident.
