Robbers invade Living Faith Church in Ondo

Suspected armed robbers have invaded a Pentecoastal Church located at Itanla area along Ondo/Akure highway in Ondo town, carting away cash and other valuables worth millions of naira.

The bandits was said to have stormed the Church premises, Living Faith Church (a.k.a winners chapel) in a Toyota Prado Jeep at about 2am.

It was gathered that the suspected robbers who were five in number started shooting sporadically into the air after locking the security men at the Church premises in a room.

The robbers were said to have went straight to the computer room of a Nursery and Primary school owned by the church.

According to a member of the church, simply identified as Bimpe, the incident Is coming two days after a-week-long vigil held in the church.

Narrating his ordeal to DAILYPOST, one of the security men who pleaded anonymity , said they were on duty when the suspected robbers suddenly drove into the church premises and started shooting sporadically into the air.

He explained that before they could realize what was happening, the suspected robbers had dispossessed them their guns and phones.

He said “immediately we sighted the jeep, we thought it was one of the pastors who had come to pray, but it was when they started shooting that we realised that it was men of the underworld

“They locked us inside one of the rooms inside the church, before they went straight to the computer room of the Nursery and Primary School owned by the church and carted away computers and other equipment

“They also ransacked some offices belonging to some pastors within the Church and went away with money and other valuable goods

“They equally visited the technical unit of the church and carted away some equipments which I can’t not mention for now

When DAILYPOST visited the Church, members of the church were on ground to inspect the damage done on the house of God.

Several broken objects including window glasses were noticed on the ground while items which include books and other instructional materials were seen littering the premises of the Church.

Some members of the church who spoke about the incident described the development as unfortunate and explained that such an unfortunate incident had never happen in the area since the church started religious activities in the area.

Normalcy has alrady returned to the area.

When contacted on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ondo State Command of Nigeria Police, Mr. Femi Joseph, said he has not been properly briefed on the matter yet.

He promised to contact reporters immediately he has full brief of the incident.
