Road mishap claims nine lives in Osun State

At least, nine persons were feared dead yesterday in a fatal road mishap, which occurred along Gbongan-Ife road, Osun State.

The tragic incident, according to eyewitness occurred in front of the popular Gbongan High School when a commercial bus with the registration number XA 478 MAP collided with a truck loaded with diesel with XA 585 ALK as its registration number.

DailyPost gathered that 11 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the deadly crash.

A sympathizer who was present at the scene attributed the mishap to over speeding saying that many of the victims had their bodies dismembered.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, in the state, Mr. Imoh Etuk, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the accident was caused by reckless driving.

“People involved in the accident were 20. They include 12 females, five males, one male child and two female children. The people who died were nine, and they include six female adults, two male adults and a child,” he said.
