Rivers: “Wike running a government of deceit and lies” – Dakuku

The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the April 11 elections, Dakuku Peterside has accused the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike of running a government of deceit and lies.

Peterside said Governor Wike does not mean well for the future of Rivers State.

Speaking at an event in Port Harcourt over the weekend, he alleged that the governor had been lying since he assumed office in May.

Dakuku, who encouraged citizens to begin moments of sober reflections, further alleged that Governor Wike had been going on a borrowing spree but that the banks had refused to give him loans.

He said, “Our friend, Nyesom Wike does not understand the connection between government and securing the future of our people. He wants to destroy the future of Rivers state. But one thing you can be sure of is that he will not succeed.

“I don’t know if you know that most of our schools are not functional for sometime and there is no way to secure the future of our people than education. And that is one thing he wants to deny our people.

“I don’t know if you know that many of our young people who were sent abroad on government scholarship have been repatriated because Nyesom is running a government that is not responsible, a government of deceit and lies.

“To tell you that this man does not mean well for the future of our people he has gone on a borrowing spree. In the first 30 days, he borrowed 30billion naira; till today, we cannot see the justification of the money.

“As if that is not enough, on the 9th of September, he wrote a letter to Zenith Bank asking for another 15 billion naira loan to be backed by excess crude account. He is already borrowing against an excess crude that will be paid in future.

“This is a moment of sober reflection. In the same September, on the 30th, he wrote another letter to Zenith Bank asking for 25 billion naira loan against our Internally Generated Revenue. IGR that he has not collected. As if that is not enough, Nyesom wrote to the CBN through Zenith Bank asking that the loan he took earlier in the region of 25billion be converted to Federal government Bond to be paid over a period of 20 to 30years.

“In the month of October, he has written to another bank asking for 25billion naira, this one, without any form of Security and without any form of collateral but all the banks are refusing and he is insisting. The only security the banks are asking for is the approval of the State House of Assembly.

“Please you can quote me that I said so.”

The Rivers State Government is yet to respond to the allegations. .
