Former Minister of state for education and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that President Goodluck Jonathan will win by an overwhelming margin in the State as he prepares to get a second term in 2015.

The PDP candidate, who spoke yesterday at Apara Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area as part of his thank you tour to the area, noted that no amount of Rivers resources expended by Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who was recently named the Presidential Campaign Manager of the All Progressives Congress (APC), would diminish the love the people have for President Jonathan.

He asserted that “President Jonathan will win Rivers State on February 14, 2015 by a landslide. The PDP candidates for the National Assembly elections will also win in their respective constituencies, setting the stage for our first celebration on February 14.

“All Rivers people should come forward on that day to vote Jonathan and all PDP candidates. After the voting, they will proceed to the Special Valentine centres that we will set up with their loved ones to celebrate a president who loves them and has ensured that they benefit from good governance. On February 28, 2015, the second stage of our celebrations will be held across Rivers State after we would we have defeated the APC and the outgoing governor.”

Wike alleged that for most parts of Rivers State, the projects known to the people are those executed by the Jonathan administration, maintaining that the outgoing governor rather invested state resources in fighting needless wars and lately, sponsoring the APC presidential campaign.

He listed schools in all the senatorial districts of the State rehabilitated and reconstructed by the Jonathan administration through UBEC and TETFUND, after Governor Amaechi abandoned them to decay.

Also speaking at the tour, the state PDP Chairman in Rivers, Felix Obuah, posited that Rivers people from all communities have endorsed Wike to become their next governor owing to his track record.
