All is set for judgment by the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Saturday.
The Jutice Suleiman Ambrossa-led Tribunal has announced that judgment will be delivered by 10am on the APC’s petition against the election of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Hearing was concluded on the APC’s petition last week after which the tribunal sitting in Abuja adopted the final addresses of all the parties yesterday.
In their final address, the APC and Dakuku Peterside urged the tribunal not to consider the Rivers State governorship election on 11th of April as being free and fair as claimed by the respondents.
Counsel to the petitioners, Akin Olujimi equally urged the Tribunal to nullify the election and order the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a fresh governorship election in Rivers State
However, the respondents made up of INEC, Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP, asked the Tribunal to dismiss the petition of the APC for lack of merit.
INEC, through its counsel, particularly argued that the petitioners failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that elections did not hold in Rivers State on 11th of April.
