The National and State House of Assembly Tribunals for Rivers State has delivered judgement in six petitions brought by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
DAILY POST reports that all six judgments were delivered in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party, including the affirmation of the election of Senator Geroge Sekibo for Rivers East Senatorial District.
The Tribunal dismissed the petition by Chief Andrew Uchendu on grounds of non-compliance with the twenty-one day deadline required by INEC for the nomination of candidates.
Similarly, the petition filed by former Chief of Staff to Amaechi, Tony Okocha of the APC challenging the election of Kingsley Chinda for Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency was also dismissed by the tribunal for lack or merit, while the election of the PDP candidate was upheld.
The tribunal upheld the election of Jerome Eke of the PDP for Etche-Omuma Federal Constituency, while dismissing the petition brought by Ogbonna Nwuke of the APC.
Meanwhile, judgement will be delivered on Tuesday in the petition filed by former Senator, Magnus Abe challenging the election of Senator Olaka Wogu for Rivers South East Senatorial District.
The same court will also make its final pronouncement in another petition brought by Barinada Mpigi of the APC for Oyigbo-Eleme-Tai Federal Constituency.
