The Independent National Electoral Commission has adopted the results of the March rerun elections in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aniedi Ikoiwak made the declaration during a political stakeholders meeting at INEC Secretariat on Aba Road in Port Harcourt.
Ikoiwak said the decision by INEC was final, adding that any political party or candidate that was not comfortable with the resolution should seek redress in court.
The INEC decision on the Tai rerun did not go down well with leaders of the PDP.
The PDP candidate for Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Olaka Wogu, led the shouting session at the political stakeholders meeting at INEC office in Port Harcourt.
Olaka Wogu questioned why INEC would turn around and declare results where it had previously suspended elections.
“You announced the suspension of an election only come back and tell us today about the results of a suspended election. This is unacceptable. We will not take it. What kind of thing is this,” Olaka lamented.
Meanwhile, the APC candidate for Tai Constituency in the rerun election on 19th March, Matthew Dike has welcomed the decision by INEC of accepting the results of the election.
Dike commended INEC for choosing the path of justice and gave glory to God for the favourable decision.
He also said he was ready to work with his opponents in the interest of the people of Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.
