Rivers: Police raids criminal hide-out, arrests three


Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested some members of a wild armed robbery gang in the city of Port Harcourt.

The Command in a statement signed by its Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammed said the suspects were arrested after conducting a raid on their hideout at Ada-George area of Port Harcourt.

He said the raid was as a result of a tip-off offered by a member of the public.

According to the statement, “The Rivers state Police Command wishes to inform the general public that today 19/11/2015 at about 04:00, a team of police operatives on a tip off raided a suspected armed robbers hide out situated along Ada George, Port Harcourt.

“The operation led to the arrest of three males suspected armed robbers namely Goodluck Worwu, Charles Wogu and Atochi Ezizie. Items recovered from them include one (2) two AK 47 rifles, one (1) K2 rifle, five (5) magazines, one hundred and thirty five (135) rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and assorted charms.

“State Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case.”
