Rivers Police arrest two suspected thieves, recover ammunition


The Rivers state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two armed robbery suspects in Port harcourt.

A statement from the command signed by its spokesman, Ahmad Mohammad said Gabriel Samuel and Wokeko Samuel were apprehended after carrying out an operation in new GRA, Port Harcourt.

Mohammad accused the duo of Gabriel and Wokeko of car theft just as he stated that two locally made revolver pistols were recovered from the suspects.

The statement says, on “Thursday 24/02/2016 at about 1:30 am, the duo of suspected armed robbers namely Gabriel Samuel, 27 years and Wokeko Samuel, 31 years were arrested along Cherubim Road, GRA, Port Harcourt following a distress call to the effect that they snatched at gun point, a black Toyota Corolla with registration number ABM 473 AA.

“The vehicle was snatched from its owner during the early hours of the day at Rumuigbo, Port Harcourt.

“Two locally made revolver pistols and two rounds of .9mm live ammunition were recovered from them.

“The suspects during questioning confessed to have been members of a four man armed robbery gang that terrorizes Ada George, Eagle Island and Rumuola axis of Port Harcourt. Investigation continues.”
