The All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Ekiti State has described as timely the intervention of the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, (NGF), Dr Kayode Fayemi in the face-off between the Rivers State Governor, Mr Nyesom Wike and the Muslim community in the state over the alleged demolition of a mosque in Port Harcourt, the state’s capital city.
The APC in a statement on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti made available to the media by its Director of Media and Publicity, Elder Sam Oluwalana stated that it has further demonstrated the leadership quality of the Ekiti state Governor.
During his visit to Port Harcourt over the weekend, the NGF helmsman, who visited the disputed land, declared that there was no need for public outcry over the land since it was a dump site and there was no evidence that a building was once erected on it.
Elder Oluwalana pointed out that the people of Ekiti state in particular and Nigerians at large should be prepared to benefit more from Dr Fayemi’s leadership quality and his peaceful disposition as the country forges ahead in the present political dispensation.
“The intervention of Dr Fayemi has no doubt put to rest all the hues and cries by some mischievous social media handlers, bent on causing confusion in the state and had also save Governor Wike and people of the state, unnecessary embarrassment.
“The present NGF leadership being headed by Governor Fayemi is out to handle all issues openly, no matter who is involved and devoid of unnecessary partisan politics,” Elder Oluwalana added.
He added that the statement of the Rivers State Governor, known for his forthright disposition has further confirmed the leadership disposition of the Ekiti State Governor. Oluwalana, who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant, Media (Party Matters) to the Ekiti State Governor, also added that the APC government both at the state and federal levels will leave no stone unturned to ensure that religious harmony prevails in the country.
