Rivers Health Commissioner lashes out at PDP in the state

The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker has lashed out at the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Ibibia Walter for trying to incriminate him over the attack on the APC in Okrika.

Parker was speaking for the first time since the attack.

The PDP Secretary, Ibibia Walter had on a national television claimed that the Okrika attack came as a result of the APC party leadership tussle in the Local government.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner at a media briefing in Port Harcourt said claims by the PDP were aimed at causing disaffection between him and the State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

While calling on Okrikans to shun every form of violence, the Commissioner sympathized with all those that were caught in the gun battle.

Sampson Parker however disclosed that he is waiting for Legal advise from his lawyers which will dictate his next line of action.

“It is my considered opinion that Walter’s mission on the show was to incriminate me in something he knows I know nothing about.

“His (Walter) submissions and argument on that show stood common sense in its head. That he had the gall to suggest that APC members in Okrika mobilized indigenes and residents of Okrika and then hired gunmen to shoot at them, though would have made for a good laugh in Walter’s weird imagination is nothing short of criminal flight of fancy.

“I was not in Okrika on February 17, 2015 for the rally because I was on official assignment in Abuja.

“Gov. Amaechi as the leader of the APC appointed a leader of the party in okrika LGA. That person is not me and do not knw where Walter gets the idea that there are factions in Okrika APC.

“This is not the first time Walter Ibibia has tried to cause disaffection between me and my boss. While I await my lawyers advice I  contemplate the next steps to take concerning this episode, let me warn those who unjustifiably seek to do me harm.

“My heart goes out ot the familyof the policeman who was killed at the rally and the Channels reporter that was stabbed,” Parker said.
