Rivers state government on Tuesday released a picture showing wife of the Rivers State Governor, Judith Amaechi, signing the condolence register during her visit to the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, on the death of her foster mother, Mrs Charity Sisi Oba.
The picture is a response to the statement earlier released by Mrs Jonathan that while several groups and individuals from across the country came to condole with her, no official of the Rivers State government deemed it necessary to pay the family a condolence visit. Her release was in response to media reports that she shunned the Deputy Governor at the Port Harcourt airport in her last visit to the state to make final arrangement for her mother’s burial.
The press release issued by Mrs. Adesugba, media aide to the First Lady added that her boss “bears no grudge towards anyone as she is an individual who continues to tirelessly advocate for peace and harmony in Nigeria.”
The disagreement between the First Family and the Ameachi’s on one hand, as well as the presidency and the Rivers government in general, seems to degenerate by the day.
Many observers believe the tussle is not unconnected to the 2015 general elections.
