The inspection of the materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the April 11 elections in Rivers state has been stalled.

The inspection could not commence due to the absence of power supply at the INEC office, along Aba road, Port Harcourt.

The Head of the Legal team of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Henry Odili confirmed this to newsmen in Port Harcourt.

Odili said the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has suddenly cut-off the power supply to the INEC office.

Expressing hope that the situation would be resolved soon, Odili also disclosed that the two power generating sets were non-functional.

He said, “The inspection could not continue because suddenly, the two generators suddenly packed up and PHEDC power supply is not available; we were told that the power has been cut-off from the pole.

“But I can tell you that members of the task force have been working very hard to ensure that the work that they came here to do is concluded.

“I am not pointing accusing fingers at any particular person but if this is a coincidence, it is a wonderful coincidence. Just when they allowed us to start work; is it spirits that cut-off the light from the pole?”
