The Rivers State Governorship and National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunals sitting in Abuja has dismissed the petition filed by the Social Democratic Party, SDP and its candidate, Reverend Minaibim Harry.

The Tribunal chaired by Justice Abdulkadir Pindiga took the decision for lack of competence and want of jurisdiction on the SDP’s petition.

Reacting, counsel to the Petitioners, Emmanuel Ameh, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, said that he would seek further directives from his clients on whether to appeal the ruling.

DAILY POST reports that INEC and Governor Nyesom Wike, who are the other respondents in the case expressed satisfaction with the ruling.

Similarly, the National Assembly Election Tribunal fixed Friday this week to rule on an application by Senator Olaka Nwogu of the PDP, challenging the petition against his election for Rivers South-East Senatorial District by Senator Magnus Abe of APC. .
