Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, says the valuable contributions Nigeria’s literary icon, Professor Chinua Achebe, made to the development of African literature were invaluable and blessing to posterity.

A statement by his press secretary Godswill Jumbo, said Engr. Ikuru was shocked at the demise of Nigeria and Africa’s literary Iroko tree.

The Deputy Governor condoled with the bereaved family, noting that he identifies with them in this moment of grief, urging them to take solace in the fact that the late literary Icon left indelible footprints in the sands of time.

Ikuru further urged the younger generation of writers to take a cue from the late icon.

The statement added that Achebe would be greatly missed by not only Nigeria but the literary world in general.
