Northern Governors have reiterated the call for the redeployment of the Rivers state police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu, agitating for State Police and true Federalism and , speaking vehemently on other issues threatening democracy in Rivers state and the country.
The Governors led by the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Governor Aliyu Babangida of Niger state said this at Government House, Port Harcourt when they payed a courtesy call on their host, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state.
In a statement signed by the Northern Governors and made available to DailyPost shortly after their closed-door meeting with Amaechi, the Governors said that their visit to Rivers state was to “ascertain for ourselves some of the things we have read in papers, seen on television and heard on radio which are threats to peace, security and democracy.
Governors Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Sule Lamido (Jigawa) Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) said, “Arising from the actions of the police and Mr. Joseph Mbu in Rivers state, the call for state police as a constitutional provision has become a necessity.”
