A High Court in Port Harcourt has issued an order of interim injunction restraining the Nigerian Military from interfering with Saturday’s re-run elections in Rivers state.

The state Chairman of the PDP, Felix Obuah in his application, sued the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff and the Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General Stevenson Olabanji before a High court in Port Harcourt.

Justice George Omereji in the order restricted the Military from interfering with the fundamental human rights of Felix Obuah.

Justice Omereji also stopped the military from arresting, harassing, intimidating, torturing and incacerating Obuah and members of the PDP during Saturday’s election.

Also joined in the matter are the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, INEC, the Resident Electoral Commission, Aniedi Ikoiwak, the Rivers state government as well as the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

DAILY POST reports that the matter has been fixed for 24th March for hearing on the substantive application.
