Rivers: Court remands kidnappers who killed their victim after recieiving N1m ransom


A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Hacrourt has remanded five suspects including a female in prison custody over alleged kidnapping and killing of one Sampson Worlu after collecting One Million Naria ransom from the family.

Chijioke Wisdom, Chiwendu Alozie, Wilfred Jumbo, Igwe Chikezie and Gift Amadi were reported to have kidnapped the victim on his way from Imo state for his National Youth Service Corps before allegedly taking him to Elelenwo in Port Harcourt where he was killed and buried.

Chief Magistrate, BMF JAMABO after listening to the charges ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution federal for advice, adjourning the matter to the 27th of may for mention.

Earlier in court, the prosecution counsel to the DSS, Chidi Eze had requested that the case file be remitted to DPP federal.

You would recall that the Department of State Security Service had arrested five persons on 28th November of last year after the matter was reported to them by the family of the victim who was called to Nigeria Bar before proceeding to the NYSC.

Meanwhile, youths from Ogbogoro community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the state stormed the premises of the state judiciary in protest over the murder.

Some of those who spoke to newsmen said the protest was aimed at seeking for justice over the murder, stressing that the court must allow justice take its full course against those who carried out what they described as inhuman act.
