A High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has granted an order restraining security operatives from arresting the Caretaker Chairman of Ikwerre Local government area, Samuel Wonosike, a strong ally of the State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Justice George Omereji also restrained the security operatives from arresting twenty-eight other members of the PDP in Ikwerre Local government.

The order of the court followed an application filed by Samuel Wonosike and others seeking the protection of their fundamental human rights.

The security agencies joined in the matter are the State Commissioner of Police, Department of State Services, DSS and the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS.

Similarly, reports available to DAILY POST has it that the Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Felix Obuah is also seeking the same injunction to stop the security agencies from arresting him.

It could be recalled that the State Governor, Nyesom Wike had raised an alarm that there was an alleged plan by security operatives to arrest leaders of the PDP in the state ahead of the re-run elections slated for next week.

The insinuation also prompted Wike to direct PDP leaders to resist arrest and decline honouring the invitation by any security agency until after the elections.
