The political crisis in Rivers State may take a fresh dimension if members of the All Progressives Congress elected into the House of Assembly are not sworn-in.
The leadership of the APC in the state has warned that its members were prepared to take their seats by force if the Speaker of the House failed to swear them in.
The position of the Rivers APC was made known by Senator Magnus Abe who represents Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Senator Abe said the option had become expedient following “the insistence of Governor Nyesom Wike that the Speaker would not swear-in elected APC members.”
Senator Abe, who returned home after his inauguration at the National Assembly in Abuja, also said the APC would initiate legal challenge against the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Wike, which he described as the joke of the year.
The APC Senator demanded Governor Wike to “tell Rivers people and the general public why they should have confidence in his commission.
“The sole mission of the state government’s inquiry is to indict the All Progressive Congress, even after he refused to support the panel set up by federal government agency.”
He said the time had come to start correcting what he described as the rascality and impunity being practiced by the State Government under Governor Wike.
On the boast by the PDP to have his election upturned at the Election Petition Tribunal, Senator Abe said his rivals were going to fail the same way they failed after boasting that he was not going to win the election.
